6th Grade Trip - Day 2

After some fabulous breakfast sandwiches, we headed out for some sea kayaking! Every single friend on the trip did the ENTIRE sea kayaking excursion! We were all VERY proud of ourselves and fellow friends. We sat by the ocean and enjoyed some lunch before playing some more team building games and then ground school for the high ropes course tomorrow! We're all pumped and can't wait to be walking on high wires three stories up! Wish us luck! :)

Finishing the day with Greek star myths, beachside.

Sampling some local wildlife.

6th Grade Trip - Day 1

We finished up our first day at El Capitan setting up our tents, having burgers for dinner and playing a few more games with our Naturalist leaders! Check out some of the pictures!

6th Grade Trip - We've Arrived!

6th Grade Trip - Day 1

Made it safe and sound and what a view! We had lunch and have been playing fun games with the ocean to our backs! Setting up camp/tents is up next!

End of September Update

Hello 6th grade community! I just wanted to send a quick update of what we have been working on in class for the last couple weeks and preview the next month.

Last week students presented their prehistory group projects. They were required to research a topic related to our early man unit and teach the rest of the class about what they learned. They had to create visual aides, as well as an educational handout. Some students even chose to make their projects edible, which their classmates appreciated immensely.

We have also launched our 1st grade learning buddies program. The first grade buddies are learning about the continents and oceans, and we helped them create paper maché globes which will be painted and labeled during our next meeting.

Finally, the students are finishing their Every Bone Tells a Story Projects. Some have been hard at work constructing their artifacts, or recreating their chosen hominin's natural environment.

When we return from our trip, we will begin our suspense, mystery, and horror short story unit. The student are all very excited about this, and some have already started brainstorming their stories!

6th Grade Trip - El Capitan State Beach

Off we go! The kids (and Justin, Jesse and Tina) are all super excited as we head off to El Capitan State Beach for our 6th grade trip! More updates to come soon! Bye families - we'll miss you!
